The SVCLS is pleased to announce that we are providing a total of $17,300 to a wide variety of projects up and down the valley. Many thanks to the Granting Committee for all their work, and to the groups providing so many great projects.


  1. Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy, Slocan Valley: Workshops on estate planning and will writing

  2. New Denver Hospice Society: Teen Connect facilitated discussions regarding grief, loss, life challenges, introspection, and reflection

  3. Slocan Lake Green Burial Society: Fencing, storage shed completion, upgrade pathways

  4. The Junction Church: Bathroom upgrades

  5. Treehugger Retreats and Events Society: HARMONY Festival and Winter Carnival

  6. Hope Air: Support for Slocan Valley patients in financial need for medical travel

  7. Brent Kennedy Elementary School Parent Advisory Council: Playground replacement

  8. Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network (CBEEN): Wild Voices for Kids

  9. Slocan Valley Community Band: Purchase of conga drums

  10. North Slocan Trails Society: Planning for active transportation link between New Denver and Silverton

  11. Petra Hekkenberg: Art project, installation, and book addressing the sentiment around evacuations of people, animals, and things

  12. WE Graham Community Services Society: Expand food bank garden production
