Val Mayes

Val Mayes has been happily living in the Slocan Valley since 2007, and she joined the SVCLS board in 2012, serving until June 2020. After a year off to recharge her batteries, she has returned to the board (as of June 2021) and taken on the role of chair. Val brings a wealth of experience in community development and non-profit management to her board role, and is looking forward taking part in SVCLS planning and activities once again. She enjoys working collaboratively to improve the quality of life for Slocan Valley residents, and in particular recognizes the important role that volunteers play in keeping local organizations flourishing. “It’s important to me to give back to the community where I live, and being part of the Community Foundations of Canada movement allows me to do that.”
