Sonja Thoma

Originally from Bavaria, Germany, Sonja came to Canada in 2005 and moved to the Slocan Valley in 2017 to raise her kids in this beautiful place. Sonja works as a linguist and language consultant with Indigenous communities in BC and across Turtle Island. Her work with small communities and organizations around development and planning also informs Sonja’s role on the Legacy board. Having served as director for a few years when she first moved to the Valley, Sonja is happy to return again to re-join efforts to raise money for the Legacy Fund. She’s excited to support the many wonderful local organizations which in turn ensure the vitality and resiliency of our beautiful Slocan Valley.
